NewsGator - What's In a Name?

Greg Reinacker is asking the 'net community to volunteer opinions on whether or not he should change the name of his company's signature product NewsGator. Seems that the mere mention of the word "Gator" inspires fear in the hearts of web surfers everywhere, no doubt due to an association with that evil spyware company of the same name.

While it's always a difficult decision to change the name of a product mid-stream, I would have to say my personal opinion is to avoid anything that alludes to Gator. And to avoid it like the plague. Having wrangled with the beast one too many times in my computing life, anytime I hear the word Gator in association with computers I hastily retreat in the opposite direction. Hell, I won't even watch Crocodile Dundee movies.

If you get a chance pop on over to Greg's site and let him know what you think.
