Early Exit Polls

Some early exit poll data is starting to trickle in. Here's how MyDD has it:

AZ CO LA PA OH FL MI NM MN WI IA NH
Kerry 45 48 42 60 52 51 51 50 58 52 49 57
Bush 55 51 57 40 48 48 47 48 40 43 49 41

And here's the latest from Slate:

CO PA OH FL MI NM MN WI NC NV
Kerry 46 54 50 50 51 50 58 51 49 48
Bush 53 45 49 49 47 48 40 46 51 50

It's important not to read too much into these numbers, and imperative that no one views these numbers with the attitude "Well, it looks like x has it sewn-up in y. No need for me to go vote." These numbers are like looking at the box-score of a baseball game in the middle innings. Even if one team is ahead, there's no guarantee that they'll end up winning the game.

Still, it's tempting to point out some intriguing things here. It appears that Nevada, a traditional Democratic stronghold, is coming out early for Bush. And Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Minnesota apparently can't wait to usher Bush into early retirement.
